The different ethnics populations live outside of towns, as they prefer conserving their traditions. However, ethnic children at school are required to learn the Vietnamese language. Where they live in the countryside or far away provinces in the mountains, water is a scarce resource. Unlike wealthier countries such as those in Europe or the United States, they do not have convenient access to water to drink or use to cook. Every day ethnic populations need water. They bathe, wash their clothes, and clean their dishes in the rivers. They also often lack proper sewage infrastructure. They often suffer from waterborne diseases. Water must always be boiled (in town as well) in order to try to have a "normality life".
